Phils’ in-season trades

Posted by Eric Fisher On July 23

With the Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline (July 31) approaching, we bring you the PhillyPhanatics.com Top 10 list of in-season trades by the Phillies.

The criteria are the stature of players dealt and the impact they had on their new teams, regardless of whether that impact benefited the Phillies or their trade partner. As a warning for this year’s trade deadline, you might notice the Phillies’ track record of receiving valuable assets for big-name players isn’t very good. Some of these trades might also be included on a list of worst Phillies trades.

It’s unlikely the Phillies will make a trade that cracks this list, but you never know. The Cole Hamels trade could move up to No. 1 if some of the prospects develop into solid major-league players — or if Hamels and Jake Diekman help the Rangers win a World Series.
