I’ll take one more for the road. Actually, let’s make that 10 more for the road.

In a departure from my normal pattern, I’m picking 10 road teams against the line this week. That’s because this week the road team is usually the better team.

When I found a superior road team favored by 3 points or less (Jets at Dolphins, Bills at Browns), I jumped at it. In fact, I made the Bills my “best bet” and put the Jets in my “other top picks.”

For the record, I was 10-5-1 last week, comfortably won by best bet (Chargers -6 vs. Titans) and went 3-0-1 in “other top picks,” with only the Giants’ “push” against the Bucs preventing a perfect record in my top five games.

With so many road favorites, I did feel obligated to pick some home underdogs, usually my favorite type of team to select. Unfortunately, one of those teams is the Arizona Cardinals (+4) against the Eagles. Hey, this isn’t exactly heresy. The Eagles won their first two games by one point. They could certainly improve to 3-0 without covering the spread.

I also selected the Broncos (+1½ vs. Texans) and Panthers (+1 vs. Giants) as home underdogs. I selected road dogs such as the Rams (+7 at Bears), Chiefs (+9 at Saints) and Bucs (+7 at Cowboys) because I believe those will be close games. I picked the Bengals (+3½ at Redskins) because I think they’re a better team than the Redskins, especially with the Redskins losing two defensive starters to injury.
